IDEA Public Schools in the Rio Grande Valley is excited to announce nearly 100 percent of more than 1,300 seniors in the Class of 2023 successfully matriculated to college.
Since 2007, IDEA has achieved a nearly perfect college matriculation rate as it pursues its unwavering commitment of College for All children, ensuring graduates are prepared to succeed in college, career, and life. The network has maintained these extraordinary results as it has grown to serve more than 80,000 students, across 143 schools in Texas, Louisiana, Florida and Greater Cincinnati.
This year, with 17 graduating classes, the Class of 2023 received 7,532 college acceptances, including 2,501 acceptances to selective and highly selective colleges and 13 acceptances to Ivy League colleges. In addition, over 78% of scholars were the first-generation to attend college.
The class also received more than $82 million in scholarships and grants.
“Less than one year ago, nearly 2,000 seniors in three of our regions combined proclaimed the college of their choice at our annual College Signing Day events, and now, those amazing seniors—our newest IDEA alumni—have followed through on that promise,” said Dr. Jeffrey Cottrill, Superintendent and CEO of IDEA Public Schools. “I am so proud of our seniors, staff members, and everyone in our Team & Family throughout the years for nurturing our scholars and playing a part in this exceptional milestone and embodiment of our mission.”
With three graduating IDEA school regions combined, located in RGV, San Antonio and Austin, the 2023 scholars received 10,812 college acceptances, 3,530 selective or highly selective college and university acceptances, and received $157 million in scholarships and grants.
