IDEA Public Schools Hosts Six FREE Backpack Giveaways in July and August

RIO GRANDE VALLEY, Texas – As part of the growing Backpacks for Bright Futures initiative, IDEA Public Schools in the Rio Grande Valley is excited to host six free back-to-school backpack giveaways throughout July and August at campuses across the region. The statewide initiative is designed to help students start the school year prepared, confident, and ready to learn. Families will also connect with community organizations, local vendors, and learn more about IDEA Public Schools. 

The first 600 school-aged children at each event will receive a backpack filled with school supplies, including rulers, pencils, highlighters and more. Children must be present with a guardian to receive a backpack. There is no limit to how many children in one family can receive a backpack.  

“I’ll never forget how excited my children were when they received their backpacks last year,” said Danielle Campos, IDEA Public Schools parent. “As a parent, you always want to give your kids everything they need to be successful, and this event made that possible. It wasn’t just about the supplies, it was about seeing my children feel confident, included and excited for the first day of school.” 

Local businesses and community organizations will also be onsite providing additional school supplies, family resources, giveaways, games, and interactive activities to help students and families prepare for a successful school year. Families will be able to apply or complete registration for their children to attend an IDEA school.
