EDINBURG, Texas — The Museum of South Texas History presents Heritage and History Days 2022, a two-weekend event scheduled for Feb. 12, Feb. 13, Feb. 19 and Feb. 20. The celebration will showcase the heritage and history of South Texas and northeastern Mexico.

Weekend One kicks off Feb. 12 with “Community History Saturdays” from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. featuring food, crafts, historic exhibits, live music and performances from local folklórico dance groups. Hands-on activities will include cattle roping, leatherworking, history demonstrations and the world-class Rio Grande Legacy exhibitions. Balloons and Faces will be on-site to provide free face painting for children from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Guests will also enjoy shopping with local craft vendors and food vendors selling regional favorites.

On Saturday, Feb. 12, Edinburg North High School Mariachi Oro, directed by Abel Acuña, will open the day with a performance. The day’s headliners, local Texas country music band Eros & the Drifters, will take the stage at noon.

Weekend One concludes with a Sunday Speaker Series presentation scheduled Feb. 13 at 2 p.m. in the courtyard gallery. Robert Ramirez will present “Ranch Life in Hidalgo County after 1850,” based on the book of the same name authored by the late local educator Emilia Schunior Ramirez. Copies of the book will be sold at the Museum Store and Ramírez will be available to add personalized autographs.
