McALLEN, Texas – The Greater McAllen Association of REALTORS® (GMAR) is proud to announce Monica Peña was named the 2021 Tom D. Morton Association Executive (AE) of the Year during the Texas REALTOR® Winter Meeting on Feb. 14. The award is presented to an executive of a REALTOR® Association in Texas who personifies the leadership qualities and high standards set by Tom D. Morton, former Executive Vice President of the Houston Association of REALTORS®. 

Mac McFarland, 2022 Board of Directors President said, “This award is designed to recognize Association Executives/CEO for their excellence, their service to their members, and their personal and professional accomplishments and achievements. We, as an Association, are extremely proud of all of Monica’s accomplishments.

An association executive for over five years, Peña has been integral and instrumental in growing her membership. She also improved her local association’s continuing education programs and MLS services, adding value to the association. A major TREPAC investor and a key part in the development of the association’s TREPAC program, Peña has been critical to its success.

Pena has served on Work Groups with the National Association; Chaired and Co-Chaired Subcommittees of the state Association Executive Committee; and served on a task force for the Council of Multiple Listing Services (CMLS). She has served as a panelist and speaker at National Association of REALTOR® (NAR), CMLS and RESO Conferences. Peña has worked in her community with Dress for Success, Avance, Boys & Girls Clubs of Edinburg and coordinated the REALTORS® relief efforts during Hurricane Harvey and fundraised locally to assist Comfort House. In addition, Peña has her REALTOR® Association Certified Executive designation (RCE), At Home with Diversity (AHWD), CMLX1, RED-B and NAR C2EX Commitment to Excellence designations.

Monica Pena said, “I’m still on cloud 9 about this and can’t stop thinking about the coordination and subversion that it took to surprise me.  I am humbled and very appreciative of the consideration for this award.  I work along-side a wonderfully progressive Board of Directors who give me the support needed to provide our approximately 1,600 Members with the most up-to-date tools so they are always in the forefront with a thriving Real Estate business and I am blessed to lead an amazing staff that works tirelessly to make us the best.
