Edinburg Hosts Missoula Children’s Theatre “Red Truck Tour”, Aug 10th-15th

EDINBURG, Texas – The City of Edinburg Cultural Arts Department, in partnership with the Edinburg Arts Foundation, is excited to welcome back the Missoula Children’s Theatre (MCT) Red Truck Tour. This weeklong youth theater residency gives students in grades 1 through 12 the unique opportunity to audition, rehearse, and perform a full-scale musical in just five days, featuring this year’s western-themed production, “Beauty Lou and the Country Beast.”

In addition to the main show, the community is invited to join interactive 45-minute MCT Workshop Days from August 11–13 (1 p.m. – 1:45 p.m.) at the Edinburg Municipal Auditorium. Open to all aspiring performers and community members regardless of cast status, these specialized workshops offer hands-on theater experience for a varying admission fee.

Event Details

Monday, August 10: Audition Day

• Time: 3 p.m. – 5 p.m. (Participants must arrive by 2:45 p.m.)
• Admission: Free to Audition
• Details: Free and open to students in grades 1–12; no advance preparation is required. Participation is limited to 100 students, so early arrival is highly recommended. The cast will consist of 60 actors and 4 assistant directors.
• Location: Edinburg ACE Center | 315 W. McIntyre St.

August 10–14: Theatre Camp Week

• Time: Rehearsal 1: 3 p.m. – 5 p.m. | Rehearsal 2: 5:15 p.m. – 7:15 p.m.
• Admission: One-time fee of $30 + tax per participant (Includes assigned role and stage costume)
• Details: Selected cast members must commit to attending both daily rehearsal sessions.
• Location: Edinburg Municipal Auditorium | 200 N. 7th Ave.

August 11–13: MCT Workshop Days

• Time: 1 p.m. – 1:45 p.m.
• Admission: Prices vary per workshop
• Details: These specialized 45-minute interactive theater workshops are open to all community members and aspiring performers, not just selected cast members.
• Location: Edinburg Municipal Auditorium | 200 N. 7th Ave.
