McALLEN, Texas – McAllen Public Library, Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service and Healthy South Texas will host Dinner Tonight Jr., a free, hands-on nutrition education program designed to help youth and parents build practical skills for healthier living.
The program, scheduled for Thursday, July 9, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at McAllen Public Library, has reached full capacity, with registered families participating in an interactive learning experience that connects nutrition education with real-world meal planning and food preparation skills.
During Dinner Tonight Jr., youth will take part in nutrition activities and food demonstrations, while parents attend a concurrent workshop focused on supporting healthier eating habits at home. The program is led in partnership with Ana Gonzalez, registered and licensed dietitian, and highlights how local organizations can work together to equip families with knowledge and tools that support lifelong wellness.
Dinner Tonight, a Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service program, aims to provide Texans with healthy recipes and increase confidence in meal planning, healthy cooking techniques and food safety. Healthy South Texas supports community-based health education efforts that help reduce preventable disease and improve health outcomes across South Texas.
Through this collaboration, Dinner Tonight Jr. reinforces a shared commitment to improving community health by making practical nutrition education accessible, engaging and family-centered.
