In support of women’s health and early detection, DHR Health is delighted to offer the “Mammos for Moms” screening special from now until June 30, 2026. This screening mammogram will provide digital 3D (three dimensional) tomography imaging and radiologist interpretation for only $99. A referral from a physician or other health care provider is required.
Breast cancer is a significant health concern in our society, affecting women in the Rio Grande Valley and worldwide. Early detection is crucial for successful treatment, and mammograms play a vital role in identifying breast abnormalities even before physical symptoms appear.
Mammogram guidelines typically advise women with an average risk of breast cancer to start screening at age 40 and continue annually thereafter, according to the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN). However, screening recommendations may begin earlier depending on individual risk factors, such as family history or genetic predispositions. Screening frequency is annual for those at average risk and stop around age 80. Ultimately, screening decisions are tailored to each woman’s unique circumstances, so it’s crucial to begin breast health discussions with a healthcare provider to determine if screening earlier than 40 is necessary.
