Champion Lakes Golf Course came alive Saturday, May 16, 2026, as young golfers and their families gathered for the 2026 Drive, Chip & Putt Local Qualifier, creating a day filled with competition, energy, and memorable moments.

The competition challenged participants in three core golf skills including driving, chipping, and putting. Each golfer taking three shots per skill for a total of nine attempts. Points were awarded across all three disciplines, with competitors aiming to advance to Augusta National Golf Club. The format kept the action moving and the excitement high as young athletes balanced power, precision, and consistency on every shot.

“This program is about giving our youth meaningful opportunities to stay active, build confidence, and enjoy healthy competition in a supportive environment,” said City Manager Isaac J. Tawil. “Seeing the excitement on the course and the sportsmanship displayed by every participant reflects the very best of our community and our continued investment in youth recreation and family engagement.”

“This event is about creating opportunities for young people to develop confidence, discipline, and a love for the game,” said Carlos Espinosa, Director at Champion Lakes Golf Course. “Watching these players encourage one another while competing at such a high level truly reflects the spirit of the program and the strong sense of community, we are proud to foster.”

Families and spectators followed the action throughout the course, cheering on participants and adding to an energetic atmosphere that balanced friendly competition with camaraderie. From long drives down the fairway to carefully lined putts on the green, the tournament showcased athletic skill, focus, determination, and pure enjoyment.
