MISSION, Texas — The Rio Grande Valley Metropolitan Planning Organization (RGV MPO) announced that it will allocate funds to support two critical projects within Precinct 3. The funding will help improve the quality of life and prosperity for constituents that reside near Liberty Boulevard in the City of Peñitas, and Los Ebanos Road in the City of Mission.

The allocation of funds for the Liberty Boulevard project total $2,440,000.00, and the funds for the Los Ebanos Road project total $4,000,000.00, with a combined just under $7 million. Projects selected for funding address some of the major issues facing Precinct 3’s growing population, such as the infrastructure of our public roadways.

The Liberty Boulevard project in Peñitas has been pending for several months due to a projected funding shortfall. Commissioner Villarreal has prioritized additional funding to augment the substantial investments the County has made in road and drainage improvements.

It’s a blueprint for the future of Precinct 3, by creating a framework for decision-making in important areas such as land use, economic growth, sustainability, community identity, housing and transportation.

Commissioner Villarreal is committed to Precinct 3, by improving the area where we live, work and raise our children. I am the people’s commissioner and truly believe that I serve at the will of those who have elected me, stated Commissioner Villareal.
