For the past eight years, Jesse Zambrano, principal of the Zambrano Law Firm, and his brother Jorge Zambrano have served as vital Pharr-San Juan-Alamo ISD Board of Trustees members. As they step down, they leave a legacy of educational growth, fiscal responsibility, and community advocacy.
“This journey has always been about enhancing educational opportunities for PSJA ISD students, and serving on the board has been an honor and a privilege,” shared Jesse. “We want to thank the voters and supporters who made it possible for us to win contested races in 2016 and 2020.”
Jorge echoed these sentiments, highlighting their commitment to being role models for the community. “We decided to serve because we wanted to show students that anything is possible when you set your mind to fulfill your educational goals,” he said.
The district made strides under their leadership and collaboration with the PSJA ISD team. According to the Texas Education Agency, it achieved its first-ever “A” rating, a significant milestone reflecting its academic and administrative excellence.
“Working with other board members, administrators, teachers, and staff was a joint effort that showed how much we can achieve when we work together,” said Jesse.
The district also established its first-ever Police Department, highlighting the importance of safe and secure schools. “While efforts to establish a police department had failed in the past, we led the way to make it happen,” Jorge noted.
The Zambrano brothers also emphasized their commitment to fiscal responsibility, noting that the board lowered the tax rate every year of their tenure while increasing the fund balance to its highest level ever. “We prioritized education and facilities without compromising fiscal responsibility,” Jorge added. “As a result, our facilities and programs are now the standard in the area.”
Jorge and Jesse expressed immense pride in the district’s leadership in dual language education, early college initiatives, and early childhood programs. “Our geographical area and heritage allow us to educate the best students in the nation,” said Jorge. “PSJA ISD is a leader in the region, state, and nation, and it has established a legacy of excellence.”
Finally, the Zambranos’ gratitude extends to their families and community, acknowledging the support that enabled them to serve. “We could not have done this without our family’s support,” Jesse noted. “This was a family effort, all of us working together and sacrificing our time and efforts for the benefit of our community.”
As they step away from the board, the Zambrano brothers look forward to seeing PSJA ISD continue its upward trajectory. “While our tenure on the board ends, we know the district’s best days are ahead,” said Jorge. “Let’s keep advocating for our students, teachers, and staff. Together, we can make a difference.”
Their message to the community was simple but heartfelt: “Thank you for allowing us to be a part of the direction of the district for the past eight years. It has been an honor to serve, and we are excited to see what the future holds for PSJA ISD,” the Zambrano brothers concluded.
