McALLEN, Texas – For the first time, in Navy Week’s history, the U.S. Navy will be celebrating in the Rio Grande Valley at South Texas College for a free, community event.
On Thursday, STC will host Navy Rear Admiral David J. Faehnle, commandant from Naval District Washington for an address and performance by the U.S. Navy Band.
There will also be a reception hosted by the McAllen chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution with a small expo including STC departments such as Financial Aid, Admissions, Humanities and Fine Arts.
Those who wish to attend the event must RSVP at https://stc.media/navyweek by Wednesday at noon, Jan. 28, 2026, to guarantee a seat.
STC, as a Gold Military Friendly® and Military Spouse Friendly® school, serves more than 800 veterans, dependents, spouses and active service members, who have access to a centralized Office of Student Veterans Affairs at the college’s Pecan, Mid-Valley and Starr County campuses, with certified staff ready to help students with military benefits, computer and printing services, quiet study and lounge areas, each known as the Foxhole and community resource events.
