McALLEN, Texas – On Tuesday, April 28, South Texas College, in collaboration with public sector leaders, higher education and community partners, will host “Rebuilding Futures: Advancing Second Chances through Policy, Partnership and Purpose.”
The event, which includes remarks by Senators John Cornyn and Ted Cruz, focuses on advancing second chances for those impacted by the justice system and serves as the public launch and formal convening of the Rebuilding Futures initiative, a project that advances second chances for individuals previously incarcerated.
Topics covered at the event are: Pre-trial diversion and post-secondary education, mental health impacts and STC student wrap-around services and bridging the gap from post incarceration to employment.
Hidalgo County District Attorney Terry Palacios will also make a special announcement that will positively impact this community.
