EDINBURG, Texas – The Dustin Michael Sekula Memorial Library invites residents of Edinburg and surrounding communities to attend the annual “Día de los Niños, Día de los Libros” (Children’s Day/Book Day) celebration on Saturday, April 25, 2026, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The event is free and open to the public and will be held at the library, located at 1906 South Closner Blvd.
“Día de los Niños, Día de los Libros” is a celebration dedicated to literacy and its role in youth development. This family-friendly event will provide opportunities to meet local children’s book authors and participate in a variety of educational, hands-on activities, including free games, arts and crafts, a petting zoo, and performances for attendees of all ages.

Several City of Edinburg departments and organizations will be in attendance, including the Edinburg Fire Department, Edinburg Police Department, Edinburg Parks and Recreation Department, and the Edinburg Boys & Girls Club. Additional participating organizations include the Museum of South Texas History, Estero Llano Grande State Park, UTRGV, Texas Roadhouse, and its mascot, as well as Jr’s Cotton Candy, which will provide free cotton candy for children and attendees.
The South Texas Literacy Coalition will also participate, supporting literacy and promoting lifelong learning by providing FREE books for attendees of all ages while supplies last.
The Dustin Michael Sekula Memorial Library encourages the community to attend this celebration, which highlights the importance of literacy, learning, and the educational development of children within the diverse community.
