I don’t even want to say it, but 2017 went by so fast that I am still in shock. We have no regrets, 2017 gave us an opportunity to meet so many of you. I trust that the new year will grant us that and more; we are looking forward to it.

Our January 2018 issue features EB Merit Construction, owned and operated by Enrique Garza, Jr. and Brandon Fairlie; they are two exceptional professionals in their industry.

If you think the South Texas economy is slow, think again. EB Merit Construction has not seen a slow period since they first joined forces in 2010 to form a business partnership.

Their company is one of the few companies capable of having multiple large projects going at the same time.  At the beginning of their partnership, it felt that they only had good luck because multiple contracts came their way.  The truth of the matter is that, it’s not luck, but blessings from above and the fact that they always start a client relationship from a good faith basis and provide quality craftsmanship.

On another matter, Terracon, a leading provider of environmental, facilities, geotechnical, and materials consulting engineering services, announced the opening of a new office in Corpus Christi, Texas.

Also, Affordable Homes of South Texas, Inc. (AHSTI), one of the area’s largest non-profit affordable homeownership providers, has made several key staff promotions.

There is an alternative for the small business.

Congratulations to Jon Rebello, BBVA Compass announced that he has been named its Texas Border and Gulf Coast CEO, where he will help oversee efforts by local area markets to increase brand awareness and bolster its client services.

Rebello will provide leadership for commercial banking and small business operations, including business development and client engagement in border markets such as Laredo, El Paso, and Rio Grande Valley areas.

With the recent retirement of BBVA Compass South Texas Community Markets CEO Dan Brown, Rebello will also oversee key bank markets in the Gulf Coast including Beaumont and Corpus Christi, as well as College Station.
