Pharr, Texas – The Pharr Housing Authority (PHA) welcomed families to its annual Back-to-School Bash, helping students prepare for the new school year with essential supplies, free haircuts, and an afternoon of fun.
Approximately 150 residents attended the event, where children in grades K-12 received bags filled with school essentials, including notebooks, composition books, crayons, markers, glue sticks, pencils, and other classroom supplies. Families also enjoyed complimentary popcorn and beverages while visiting community partner booths and collecting additional school supplies, backpacks, and other giveaways.

The event was made possible through the generous support of community partners including Pharr Connect, Luna Dental, Bubba’s 33, El Pollo Loco, Pinnacle Clinical Research, Molina Healthcare, and Mi Familia en Acción, who provided backpacks, school supplies, and free food vouchers for residents. Elite Barber Institute also donated free haircuts for children attending the event, while UCAS School of Cosmetology provided complimentary haircut vouchers students can redeem at a later date.

For many families, the event provided more than school supplies. It helped ease the financial burden of back-to-school shopping while giving children the confidence to walk into the classroom ready to learn and succeed.
Children and families enjoyed the event, and many left smiling, happy, and excited for the first day of school. PHA is proud to continue providing opportunities that strengthen families, support student success, and invest in the future of the residents it serves.
