PHARR, Texas – The Pharr Housing Authority (PHA) continues to invest in the future of its residents by empowering students to pursue higher education through the Project READ Scholarship Program, reaffirming its commitment to helping families achieve long-term success through education.
During the 2026 Project READ Scholarship Luncheon held on July 20, 2026, the Pharr Housing Authority celebrated 33 outstanding scholarship recipients whose academic achievements, leadership, and perseverance earned them financial assistance as they begin the next chapter of their educational journeys. The annual celebration recognizes students while highlighting education as one of the most powerful pathways to opportunity, economic mobility, and generational success.

Established by the Pharr Housing Authority, the Project READ Scholarship Program was created to encourage academic excellence and provide eligible PHA residents with financial support to pursue college, technical training, or other post-secondary educational opportunities. For many students, these scholarships help ease the financial burden of higher education while opening doors to careers that can transform not only their own lives, but the future of their families.
