Mesa Llena, A New Community Food Project Opens in Brownsville

Pharr, Texas – There’s new hope for residents of the Buena Vida community in downtown Brownsville.  The Mesa Llena community food project has opened at the Good Neighbor Settlement House, located at 1216 E. Tyler, Brownsville.  The project will serve as a client-choice emergency food pantry, demo kitchen, learning center and incorporate other community partners.

The project is funded by the Valley Baptist Legacy Foundation which made the renovation of the former thrift shop area possible, along with the purchase of a new delivery truck, staffing, and equipment for the project. Mesa Llena will help clients gain better eating habits while helping with a variety of opportunities for financial literacy and education.
