McALLEN, Texas — Mayor Javier Villalobos, the City Commission, City Manager Isaac J. Tawil, and city leadership invite all residents, business owners, and community members to a Public Open House to help guide the future planning and investment decisions for Downtown McAllen.
The event will take place on Monday, June 29, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the McAllen Chamber of Commerce, located at 1200 Ash Ave W.
Proposed recommendations for the downtown area currently include:
- Enhanced Public Spaces: Designing welcoming areas for residents and visitors to gather.
- Family-Friendly Amenities: Adding features and spaces catering to families and children.
- Improved Accessibility: Evaluating potential street conversions to make navigation easier and safer.
- A New Downtown Park: Developing a signature green space in the heart of the city.
Attendees will have the opportunity to participate in interactive activities and visit various feedback stations to share their ideas, voice their opinions, and directly influence the final recommendations.
