During the event, Dr. Daniel P. King, Executive Director of Region One Education Service Center, thanked Lone Star National Bank for helping cover graduation costs. “I want to thank Lone Star National Bank for this donation to cover the graduation expenses, including the students’ caps and gowns,” King said.

King said the program serves adults ages 18 to 50 who have not earned a high school diploma or GED. He said students complete a high school diploma program while earning industry-based certifications. “100% of our graduates are earning industry-based certifications,” King said, adding that some graduates have already secured employment in their training fields while others are entering internships.

King said more than 500 students were enrolled in the program this year and that organizers aim to double enrollment to 1,000 next year. He also said some students continue into associate or bachelor’s degree programs. “We’re here to support our students every step of the way,” King said.
