WESLACO, Texas – Lemonade Day Weslaco, a youth entrepreneurship program hosted by the Weslaco Area Chamber of Commerce, returns on Saturday, August 1, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Isaac D. Rodriguez Park (1200 E. 6th St., Weslaco, TX). This free community event will feature children’s lemonade stands, food, family-friendly activities, and fun for all ages.
Since bringing Lemonade Day to Weslaco in 2024, the program has provided a hands-on learning experience for participants to develop lifelong skills such as financial literacy, leadership, and self-confidence through owning and operating their own lemonade stands. The program also helps to bring together small business, mentors, families, and the local community while helping to support this event.
Weslaco Chamber President/CEO & Lemonade Day Weslaco Director, Barbara Jean Garza emphasizes the importance of initiatives such as Lemonade Day explaining, “As a business focused organization it is our mission to prepare our future leaders to drive our economy forward, and this is a perfect opportunity to put our young people in a position to grow and learn key business skills.”
Lemonade Day is a national organization that equips youth, ages 6-17, for life through an entrepreneurial experience. According to official Lemonade Day National data, 90% of previous participants report plans to participate again, demonstrating the role programs like this can play in supporting youth development and community engagement.
