McAllen, Texas – Keep McAllen Beautiful (KMB) is proud to announce their annual Paint McAllen Beautiful, a project where volunteers from the City of McAllen’s non-profit beautification organization, paint homes at no cost, to low-income, elderly and/or disabled McAllen homeowners.  The project is set to take place beginning in June.

“Not many communities have entities like Keep McAllen Beautiful, who through their efforts, really help beautify our neighborhoods, clean our streets and keep McAllen as beautiful as it,” said McAllen Mayor Jim Darling.  “I encourage anyone who fits the criteria and would like to apply and be a part of this free program, to apply now.”

Qualifying McAllen applicants are being sought to be selected for the program.  The criteria for applicants is that they must be residents of McAllen who own a home, are low-income, 60 years of age or older, or, of any age with a permanent disability.  Please contact Keep McAllen Beautiful with any questions, for more information or to fill out the application.

Paint McAllen Beautiful will be coordinating with businesses, civic organizations, college groups, and religious organizations to volunteer in a collaborative effort to improve and beautify the community.  Through a generous grant from BBVA Compass Foundation, Keep McAllen Beautiful is able to fund paint and supplies for the project. Last year alone, 150 volunteers donated 450 hours and painted three homes.

KMB adopted the idea in an effort to help enhance the community while providing a much-desired service for those in need of maintaining their homes.

“A freshly painted home helps beautify the neighborhood and lifts the spirits of those who reside there,” said Chris Lash, program coordinator for Keep McAllen Beautiful.

Keep McAllen Beautiful is a non-profit educational organization dedicated to developing and expanding awareness regarding litter prevention, proper waste disposal, recycling, and beautification projects and preserving the natural beauty of McAllen.
