The McAllen Economic Development Corporation (MEDC), in partnership with the McAllen Chamber of Commerce, the City of McAllen, Hidalgo County, South Texas Health System and Workforce Solutions, is reminding the community to attend the Jumpstart Career Expo on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the McAllen Convention Center.

The Jumpstart Career Expo will feature employers representing healthcare, advanced manufacturing, logistics and supply chain, education, retail, public service, and professional services industries. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet directly with hiring managers, explore current job openings, and learn about training and career advancement pathways.
“This event is about creating access and opportunity,” said Elizabeth Suarez, President and CEO of the McAllen Chamber of Commerce and McAllen Economic Development Corporation. “Jumpstart Career Expo connects our talented workforce with employers who are actively hiring, strengthening both our families and our regional economy.”
City leadership emphasized the importance of workforce alignment in supporting McAllen’s continued growth.
“McAllen’s strength lies in its people,” said City Manager Isaac ‘Ike’ Tawil. “By bringing employers and job seekers together in one place, we are investing in our community’s economic future and ensuring our residents have access to meaningful career opportunities.”
County officials also underscored the regional impact of the event.
“Workforce development is critical to Hidalgo County’s long-term success,” said Hidalgo County Commissioner Ellie Torres, Pct. 4. “Events like Jumpstart open doors for our residents and help employers find the skilled talent they need to grow.”
Workforce Solutions representatives highlighted the practical resources available to attendees.
“Jumpstart Career Expo is more than a job fair—it’s a gateway to career pathways,” said John Hershey, Workforce Solutions Business Relations and Information Manager. “We will have resources available to support job seekers with training information, employer connections, and tools to help them succeed.”
Ralph Garcia, Chief Operating Officer of MEDC, encouraged residents to come prepared and take full advantage of the opportunity.
“We encourage attendees to dress professionally, bring multiple copies of their r?sum?, and be ready to engage with employers,” said Ralph Garcia. “This is an opportunity to make personal connections that can lead directly to employment.”
The event is free and open to the public.
