Rio Grande Valley, TX (August 10, 2020) – Today, IDEA Public Schools in the Rio Grande Valley welcomed thousands of students for the 2020 – 21 school year via virtual learning.
This decision takes into the account the recent opinion by the State Attorney General and the guidance provided by our partners at the Texas Education Agency.
“As we prepare for a new year of success and achievements, we recognize that it will be an unusual year, but IDEA’s keen focus on rigorous academics and high expectations for student learning will not change,” says JoAnn Gama, Co-Founder, CEO and Superintendent of IDEA Public Schools. “We will continue to challenge our scholars to raise the bar on achievement as they work to and through college.”
This year, IDEA Rio Grande Valley opened three new campus – IDEA Palmview, IDEA Harlingen and IDEA Sports Park. For the 2020 – 21 school year, IDEA Harlingen will serve students in grades K through 2nd and 5th through 6th grade. IDEA Palmview will serve students in grades K through 2nd and 6th grade. IDEA Sports Park will serve students in grades K through 2nd and 9th through 10th. All campuses will grow to serve grades K-12 when fully scaled.
IDEA Public Schools will continue to provide meals to all IDEA students via curbside meals. From March until July, IDEA Public Schooled served over four million meals to all children across Texas and Louisiana.
