EDINBURG, Texas – In recognition of his dedication to public service and lasting contributions to Hidalgo County government and the legal community, a formal ceremony will be held to officially name the law library at the Hidalgo County Courthouse as the Judge Ramon Garcia Law Library.

The naming ceremony will take place on Friday, May 29, 2026, at 1 p.m. in the Jury Assembly Room on the second floor of the Hidalgo County Courthouse.

Judge Ramon Garcia served Hidalgo County with distinction during three terms as Hidalgo County Judge, first from 2003 to 2007 and again from 2011 to 2019. Throughout his tenure, he earned recognition for his strong leadership, commitment to public service, and fiscally responsible approach to county government.

A respected trial attorney and dedicated public servant, Judge Garcia played a pivotal role in strengthening the county’s financial position while leading significant infrastructure and capital improvement efforts, including the construction of the new courthouse and the successful passage of a $100 million bond election that funded critical flood improvement projects throughout the county.

The naming of the law library serves as a tribute to Judge Garcia’s enduring legacy and his commitment to the administration of justice, public service, and access to legal resources in Hidalgo County.
