EDINBURG, Texas – The Hidalgo County Tax Office is reminding property owners that all 2025 property taxes must be paid on or before June 30, 2026, to avoid additional collection costs.
Under Section 33.07 of the Texas Property Tax Code, any 2025 property taxes, penalties, and interest that remain unpaid as of July 1, 2026, will incur an additional 15 percent attorney collection fee to help cover the cost of delinquent tax collection efforts.
“Our goal is to ensure taxpayers are aware of this important deadline and have every opportunity to avoid additional fees,” said Hidalgo County Tax Assessor-Collector Pablo “Paul” Villarreal, Jr. “We encourage property owners to verify their tax status and make any outstanding payments before July 1.”
Property owners who have not received a tax statement for property they own are encouraged to contact the Hidalgo County Tax Office immediately to verify the status of their account.
To assist taxpayers, the Hidalgo County Tax Office offers several locations throughout the county where payments can be made during regular business hours.
Tax Office locations are open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., unless otherwise noted:
