MISSION, Texas – The Hidalgo County Head Start Program is proud to announce an exciting new chapter for the 2026–2027 school year, marked by the renaming of its Camarena campus and the launch of a new educational partnership.
The Camarena campus will now be known as Palmview Head Start Academy, reflecting a renewed vision centered on excellence, innovation, and preparing children for lifelong success. Alongside this transformation, the program is proud to partner with Vanguard Academy Charter School, creating enhanced educational opportunities for children and families in the community.
Palmview Head Start Academy will continue its long-standing commitment to providing high-quality early childhood education in a nurturing andsupportive environment. Highly qualified, TEA-certified Head Start teachers will remain at the forefront of instruction, delivering comprehensive services and individualized support that families have come to expect.
Together, Palmview Head Start Academy and Vanguard Academy share a unified vision: to inspire a love of learning, foster strong character, and prepare young learners for success in school, college, careers, and beyond. This collaboration combines the strengths of two organizations dedicated to academic excellence, innovation, and student achievement. Through engaging learning experiences and high expectations for every child, the partnership aims to create opportunities for students to reach their fullest potential.
To celebrate this exciting transition, Head Start and Vanguard Academy invite families to attend a Meet & Greet event on Wednesday, June 17 at 5:30 p.m. at Vanguard Monet Elementary School located at 1020 Los Ebanos Rd. in Mission, TX.
As a special welcome, Vanguard Academy will provide a free uniform shirt to every student who attends the event.
