EDINBURG, Texas – The Edinburg Police Department invites parents, guardians, and youth to an important community discussion titled “Dangers of Social Media: Protecting Our Kids in a Digital World.” The event will take place on Wednesday, May 20, at 6 p.m. at the Cpl. “Our aim is to give parents and young people the knowledge and confidence they need,” said Edinburg Police Chief Jaime Ayala. “This class plays an important role in that effort. When families understand how these online threats work, they’re better equipped to take preventive action and keep communication open at home.”

This free community event is open to everyone. Parents, caregivers, educators, and youth are encouraged to attend. While all are welcome, the presentation is generally recommended for children ages nine and up, since the content is presented candidly to ensure important topics are understood.
