McAllen, TX (April 22, 2015) – With graduation dates fast-approaching, many high school seniors are faced with important decisions regarding their future educational endeavors. For those enrolled in the South Texas College Dual Enrollment Program, considering how they can apply the college credits they earned to their new college careers is an important task. To make the transition easier, Dual2Degree High School Senior & Parent College Days are currently underway throughout the month of April.
The final Dual2Degree High School Senior & Parent College Day will take place at the Pecan Campus on Saturday, April 25. Attendees may choose from two sessions scheduled to start at 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. Reservations are recommended.
Parents who attended the first Senior & Parent College Day at the Pecan Campus benefited from a wealth of information from South Texas College specialists. “Our daughter Cristina is in the IB Programme at Lamar Academy,” said Leticia Olvera-Franco. “She has worked very hard, so it’s great to be here and understand her options and what we can capitalize on. Events like this save time and money.”
In addition to learning about the value of their college credits earned in high school, dual enrollment students and their parents also had the opportunity to meet with financial aid, admissions, advising and other specialists at South Texas College.
“The goal of the Dual2Degree High School Senior & Parent College Day is to ensure our dual enrollment students have a clear plan of how to utilize the free college credits earned at their respective high schools,” said Larry Barroso, director of STC College Connections and Admissions. “These students are exceptional and motivated. It’s our job to keep that positive momentum going as they transition to their new colleges.”
