McALLEN, Texas – The community is invited to attend the annual Public Works Block Party, a free family-friendly event showcasing the employees, services and infrastructure that keep the city moving every day. Thanks to Lone Star National Bank, 50 local children will have a chance to win bicycles, and helmets have been donated by McAllen Crimestoppers.
Public Works employees will host interactive booths, educational activities for children and equipment demonstrations, along with giveaways, food and entertainment for all ages. Attendees will also enjoy a meet and greet with city employees who maintain streets, drainage systems, sanitation services and other essential city functions.

The City of McAllen values opportunities for residents to connect with the employees who work every day to keep the city safe, clean and well maintained. The Public Works Department, made up of 14 divisions, works collaboratively to maintain infrastructure and quality of life.
