In Edinburg, a Commission form of government was incorporated on September 19, 1919, first consisting of one mayor and two commissioners. In 1928, a City Charter was adopted and recorded with the Secretary of State, and in 1949, the present City Charter and City Council-City Manager form of government was adopted. The commitment to serving Edinburg residents remains, and the legacy of each elected official at the helm of the city will live on at Edinburg City Hall.
The event was held in Council Chambers at 415 W. University Drive, and highlighted every Edinburg mayor who has held the position since 1920 in an effort to acknowledge those who helped build the city into what it is today.
