EDINBURG, Texas – The City of Edinburg Human Resources Department will host a special luncheon panel titled “Women Leading with Purpose” on Monday, March 9, 2026, at 12 p.m. at the Edinburg Arts, Culture and Events Center (ACE). The panel will feature community leaders Leah Wise, Veronica Gonzales, and Natalia Velasquez, who will share their experiences, insights, and advice on leadership, career growth, and empowerment.
Wise, an attorney and entrepreneur, opened her own law practice in 2016 and now owns the largest 100% women-run law firm in the Rio Grande Valley.
Gonzales is a recognized leader in the public and private sectors with more than 20 years of experience as an attorney, mediator, and former state legislator, and is currently leading Governmental and Community Relations at The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley.
Velasquez serves as the Chief Building Official for the City of Edinburg and has made regional history multiple times, including becoming the Rio Grande Valley’s first female Master Electrician and later earning the prestigious Master Code Professional designation.
The discussion will explore topics such as overcoming workplace barriers, self-advocacy and career development, work-life integration, mentorship, and building confidence in leadership roles. The internal luncheon for City of Edinburg employees has reached full capacity.
“This luncheon is an opportunity to reflect on the powerful impact women have as leaders in our workplaces, families, and communities,” said Erica Balli, Director of Human Resources for the City of Edinburg. “By sharing experiences and supporting one another, we can continue building pathways for future generations of women leaders.”
