The City of Edinburg made its 11th revision to a local emergency order as we continue to fight the spread of COVID-19 in our community.

The order adds to the Work Safe Plan requirements that businesses must require employees and customers to wear facial coverings to the maximum extent possible including when customers and employees enter and are inside a facility, in the parking lot, in an outdoor setting where customers and employees are expected to be in close proximity, in company vehicles and when pumping gas.

“We’ve been dealing with this pandemic for three months now and medical experts have a better understanding of how it’s spread,” said Mayor Richard Molina. “A growing number of studies show face masks reduce the spread of coronavirus which is why we are taking another step to stop the spread in Edinburg.”

The facial covering requirement does not apply to persons alone in a company vehicle, persons alone in enclosed spaces inside the business facility, when eating or drinking or when covering the nose/mouth is a health or safety risk to the person.

Mayor Richard Molina signed the new order today and it takes effect immediately.
