BROWNSVILLE, Texas — U.S. Border Patrol Explorers hosted a beach cleanup effort as their first community service project for the year.
On Saturday, April 27, the Fort Brown Border Patrol Explorer Post 975 led a community cleanup effort at the Boca Chica Beach in Brownsville, Texas. The objective for this community service project was to promote awareness on the negative effects litter can create on the beach while encouraging the explorers to become stewards of the environment and ecosystem.
The City of Brownsville, Brownsville Bait and Tackle, RGV Fishing area waterway clean ups and several members of the community participated. As a result of the event, participants collected enough trash to fill up a large dump truck.
The explorers from Post 975 encourage other explorer posts to do the same in their areas.
