McAllen, TX – The President’s Council of Affordable Homes of South Texas, Inc. recently met for their scheduled biannual meeting. The subject of the meeting was to review the organization’s recent fiscal year accomplishments and fiscal year 2018 goals. The President’s Council also discussed ways in which they plan to assist Affordable Homes of South Texas, Inc. (AHSTI) in accomplishing its mission.
The Council also took a moment of silence in memoriam of Glen E. Roney who recently passed away. Mr. Roney served as AHSTI Board President from 1991-1993.
The President’s Council is comprised of previous AHSTI Board Presidents and was created to mark the 40thAnniversary of the organization. The first council meeting was held in October 2015 with outstanding attendance and participation by former AHSTI Presidents. Today’s President’s Council brought together 42 years of AHSTI history from the beginning in 1976 to the present.
The Council’s main purpose is to serve in an advisory capacity to AHSTI by providing guidance and insights to the organization. The Council will also serve as community ambassadors for the organization as advocates for the promotion and creation of affordable housing opportunities.
Affordable Homes of South Texas, Inc. is a local 42-year-old non-profit organization that provides home ownership opportunities and education for working low-income families. Nationally recognized, AHSTI provides a range of non-profit housing solutions. AHSTI takes on the role of land developers, general contractors and as a full-service mortgage company. In addition, AHSTI is a certified HUD Counseling Agency and provides a multi-cultural, in-house pre-purchase counseling and group education program to all clients.
