PHARR, Texas – In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, the Pharr Global Business Hub will host Celebrating Heritage Beyond the Border: The Economic Power of the U.S.–Mexico Relationship on Thursday, September 17, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.
The event will highlight the deep cultural, economic, and business connections between the United States and Mexico, while showcasing the opportunities that exist for continued binational collaboration and economic growth.
As part of the Pharr Global Business Hub’s Global Business initiatives, the event will feature an engaging roundtable conversation bringing together business and community leaders to discuss the important role organizations on both sides of the border play in strengthening the U.S.–Mexico relationship. Featured guest will be Associate Consul, Jesus Alejandro Cano Sanchez with the Mexican Consulate in Mcallen.
“Pharr’s story is deeply connected to our relationship with Mexico,” said Victor Perez, President of Pharr EDC. “Our location, our international bridge, and our business community position Pharr as an important gateway for trade and commerce. Hispanic Heritage Month provides an opportunity not only to celebrate our shared heritage, but also to recognize the economic impact and opportunities created by the relationships that connect our communities.”
Leticia Adame, Economic & Workforce Director for Pharr EDC, emphasized the importance of creating spaces where businesses can connect and explore opportunities beyond traditional borders.
“Heritage is more than where we come from, it is also about the relationships, traditions, and connections we carry forward,” said Adame. “For Pharr, our connection with Mexico is part of our identity and a tremendous economic asset. This conversation will bring together people who understand the value of binational relationships and create opportunities for new partnerships, ideas, and growth.”
“Our connection between the U.S. and Mexico creates opportunities that go far beyond trade,” said Armando Villarreal, Economic Development Training Specialist with UTRGV’s Entrepreneurship & Commercialization Center (ECC). “By bringing people together across borders, we can strengthen partnerships, share ideas, and create new opportunities for businesses and communities on both sides.”
Following the roundtable, attendees will be invited to participate in a networking mixer, providing an opportunity for business leaders, entrepreneurs, community organizations, and partners to connect, exchange ideas, and build meaningful relationships.
The event reflects Pharr EDC’s continued commitment to strengthening Pharr’s position as a global business hub and binational center for trade, entrepreneurship, workforce development, and economic opportunity.
