McALLEN, TX – The 11th annual South Texas All Hazards Conference (STAHC) will take place March 26-27, 2025, at the McAllen Performing Arts Center and McAllen Convention Center. As the second-largest emergency response training event in Texas—and the only one of its kind offered at no cost—the conference expects to host over 3,000 professionals from public health, public safety, law enforcement, emergency management, public works, and educational institutions.

STAHC follows the National Incident Management System (NIMS), a standardized approach to emergency coordination developed by the Department of Homeland Security. This year’s theme, ‘Preparedness Starts Here,’ reinforces the conference’s role as a foundation for readiness, providing attendees with the training, tools, and partnerships necessary to effectively respond to emergencies and safeguard their communities.

“In today’s world, we must train not only first responders but also the support staff who ensure emergency operations run smoothly. NIMS helps unify command and ensures critical information is communicated efficiently,” said Hidalgo County Emergency Management Coordinator Ricardo Saldaña.

The conference offers networking, resource-sharing, and continuing education opportunities for decision-makers, healthcare professionals, and first responders. Attendees can earn continuing education credits through the Lower Rio Grande Valley Development Council (LRGVDC).

“Effective emergency response starts with strong emergency preparedness. STAHC equips professionals across multiple sectors with the knowledge and resources needed to protect our communities in times of crisis,” said Dairen Sarmiento, Health and Human Services.

By offering hands-on training and expert-led discussions, STAHC ensures that responders are not only informed but also equipped to act decisively when emergencies arise. The conference serves as a bridge between knowledge and real-world application, strengthening preparedness efforts at every level.
