To help provide a level playing field for small businesses owned and controlled by women, the Federal Government limits competition for certain contracts to businesses that participate in the Women-Owned Small Business Program. The federal government’s goal is to award at least 5% of all federal contracting dollars to certified Women-Owned Small businesses each year.  Thus the RGV Hispanic Chamber and SBA are hosting a free workshop to inform women-owned business owners of the benefits of being certified.Â
This workshop is on the SBA’s Woman-Owned Small Business Certification (WOSB) and the Economically Disadvantaged Woman-Owned Small Business (EDWOSB) certification will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 29th at the EBC Center located at 801 E. Fern in McAllen from 9 am to 12 noon.Â
Attendees will learn: If government contracting is for you? What is SAM (System for Award Management) and how to register; How can you grow your business utilizing the SBA government contracting programs; and what the Woman-Owned Small Business (WOSB) and the Economically Disadvantaged Woman-Owned Small Business (EDWOSB) Program pertains.
For more information and to register, call the RGV Hispanic Chamber office at 928-0060.
