The Weslaco Chamber of Commerce held its annual membership luncheon on November 15 at the Business-Visitor & Event Center, and also awarded Man, Woman, Business, Citizen and Volunteer of the Year.  The 2013-2014 Board of Directors was also introduced, as well as the executive board members.

The 2013 Man of the Year award went to Jeff Walker, owner of Walker Realty.  Jeff is an active member of the Weslaco Lions Club, and involved in many community activities. Every year, he helps out in lining up the Christmas Parade entries and has been a faithful Onion Fest volunteer, spending the entire day as the parking supervisor.  Jeff has served as the Chief Ambassador Red Coat for the Chamber and is an executive board member of the Chamber.

Rhonda Garza, McAfee Insurance Agency, was selected as the 2013 Woman of the Year.  She is a member of the Aurora House Board and Literary Review Club. Rhonda has been very involved in raising funds for the American Cancer Society, being a cancer survivor herself.  She has broken fundraising records with her successful Relay for Life events that she has chaired year after year, even when she was challenged physically.
