Texas Border Business
PHARR – Three Jazz Bands from Pharr-San Juan-Alamo ISD recently competed and earned Division 1 Superior ratings at the 52nd Annual Texas A&M-Kingsville Jazz Festival held March 30.
The jazz bands from PSJA North Early College HS, PSJA Memorial Early College HS, and PSJA Southwest Early College HS received this outstanding rating from the judges at the highly competitive festival where they competed alongside nearly 40 bands from across the state.

In addition to earning a Superior rating, the PSJA Memorial ECHS Jazz Band earned 1st place in the 5A Division. The following two PSJA Southwest ECHS musicians were also named to the All-Star Jazz Ensemble:
- Angel Meza – 10th grade, Trumpet
- Andre Martinez – 12th grade, Trombone
