McALLEN, Texas — The Salvation Army of McAllen and Hidalgo County, alongside dedicated community partners, will host a formal ribbon-cutting ceremony on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at 3:00 PM to unveil its brand-new Emergency Disaster Services (EDS) Mobile Feeding Unit.
The ceremony will take place at The Salvation Army complex located at 1600 N. 23rd St., McAllen, TX 78501.
Purchased through a generous financial donation from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, this state-of-the-art mobile unit significantly upgrades local disaster relief infrastructure. The new mobile kitchen is specifically designed to rapidly deploy during crises, allowing disaster relief teams to respond quickly to emergencies across South Texas. It will serve as a frontline resource, providing hot meals, hydration, and critical food assistance directly to affected families, first responders, and vulnerable communities during their times of greatest need.
Members of the public, community leaders, and local media are invited to attend the dedication and ribbon-cutting event to tour the new vehicle and learn more about regional disaster response initiatives.
