Brownsville, Texas – In a show of unity that has been the strength of South Texas’ legislative deleSgation, six state representatives today announced their endorsement for Morgan LaMantia in the open-seat Democratic Primary in Senate District 27.
Praising Morgan LaMantia’s collaborative approach to standing up for an entire region, the six state representatives include:
· State Rep. Terry Canales (HD 40),
Chair of the House Transportation Committee
· State Rep. Armando “Mando” Martinez (HD 39),
the longest serving member from the Rio Grande Valley
· State Rep. Bobby Guerra (HD 41),
Vice Chair of the House Public Health Committee
· State Rep. Oscar Longoria (HD 35), a member of the
County Affairs and Energy Resources Committees
· State Rep. Sergio Muñoz, Jr. (HD 36), a member of the
House Higher Education Committee
· State Rep. Abel Herrero (HD 34), Vice Chair of Energy Resources
and a member of the Agriculture and Livestock Committee
“This is an incredible honor,” LaMantia noted. “It’s this kind of unity that brought South Texas its own medical school.” LaMantia noted. “I’m a collaborative leader by nature, and I know that we stand strongest when we stand together for South Texas families,” she added.
State Representative Terry Canales, Chair of the House Transportation Committee, noted Morgan’s regional outlook and collaborative approach:
“We need legislators who understand the interconnectedness of our community and will fight for regional solutions to our transportation and infrastructure challenges. That’s why after researching all the candidates, I’m endorsing Morgan LaMantia for the State Senate.”
State Rep. Armando “Mando” Martinez, a firefighter and the dean of the delegation, spoke to Morgan representing the next generation of leadership:
“As the longest serving member of the Rio Grande Valley delegation, it’s an honor for me to think about people that can actually move our leadership into the next generation. That is why I’m endorsing Morgan LaMantia for State Senate.”
Representatives Guerra, Longoria, Muñoz and Herrero referenced Morgan’s track record tackling health care costs, commitment to help striving students afford college, her track record in job creation as a businesswoman, and her steadfast commitment to stand up for working families.
