WASHINGTON, D.C. – Despite publicly claiming a little over a week ago that there was not a crisis at the border, the Biden administration has reportedly activated a “volunteer” force to help address a “surge in migration along the Southwest border.”
In the last month, authorities arrested and encountered more than 100,000 migrants on the Southern border.
The New York Times has reported, “the number of unaccompanied migrant children detained along the southern border has tripled in the last two weeks.”
Last week, Axios reported that shelters that house these children are at 94% capacity and will reach their maximum capacity this month.
When asked directly today if the situation at the border was a crisis, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki responded, “I don’t think we need to sit here and put new labels on what we have already conveyed is challenging.”
This is a desperate humanitarian crisis. They won’t say it because they know that they caused this crisis with their radical, open borders agenda.
HOW’D WE GET HERE?
Earlier this year the Biden administration issued an executive order reversing a policy to swiftly expel migrants, even while thousands of unaccompanied children are arriving at the Southern border each month.
Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security Mayorkas assured them, “We are not saying don’t come. We are saying don’t come now.”
The Biden administration has attempted to pass the blame onto the previous administration, claiming our immigration system “was gutted” even while they have been crafting an absurd immigration bill that would offer an eight-year path to citizenship for almost every one of the 11 million illegal aliens in the United States.
BOTTOM LINE: The Biden administration is worsening the crisis at the border they created with their reckless policies. Sen. Cruz remains focused on securing our border and working with his colleagues to pass commonsense immigration reform.
