RGV FC Toros host Tulsa Roughnecks FC

Edinburg, Texas, July 5th – The Rio Grande Valley FC Toros (6,5,6) will be hosting Tulsa Roughnecks FC (3,11,2) on Sunday, July 10th. The game will kickoff at 7:30p.m at the RGV FC Practice Complex and will be the first of five consecutive home games the Toros will be having.

The Toros are currently sitting in a four-game winless streak and seek to break the streak against Tulsa Roughnecks FC. The Toros last face Oklahoma City Energy FC on Saturday, July 2nd. The match went scoreless for a 0-0 draw. Energy FC was awarded two penalties in the 2nd half. Kevin Garcia was called for a foul inside the box, which the referee deemed to be fit for a red card. RGV’s Callum Irving stopped the first penalty, shot by OKC’s Dani Konig, in the 72nd minute. A few minutes later, Energy FC was awarded a second penalty after a Jorginho James foul. Dani Konig stepped up again but skied his second opportunity to put Oklahoma City ahead. Callum Irving kept his clean sheet and had four saves in the game.

Tulsa Roughnecks FC is coming back from a home loss against another Texas Team. Roughnecks lost 2-1 against San Antonio FC. All goals came in the second half. Michael Reed put San Antonio ahead in the 56th minute. Rafael Castillo collected an assist on that goal. Franck Tayou scored the second for San Antonio on the 80th minute. Tulsa Roughnecks pulled one back in stoppage time with a Jasson Ramos Carpio goal.

After Sunday’s match, the Toros will have a midweek game against Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2 on Wednesday, July 13th. Tulsa Roughnecks will next host Saint Louis FC on Friday, July 15th.
