WASHINGTON – Congressman Henry Cuellar (TX-28) has continually called for U.S. Troops on the border to be sent home for the holidays and to not extend their mission past the expiration date. Today, the Congressman released the following statement in response to reports showing that hundreds of troops will be sent home this week:
“I am encouraged to see that many of the U.S. active-duty personnel currently deployed to the U.S.-Mexico border are returning home this week, especially in time for the holidays. I supported ending the mission of our troops on the border before the original December 15th deadline, and request the remaining active-duty troops be returned to their home bases to celebrate the holidays with their loved ones. Ending this mission on the border sends a clear message to the American people that our dedicated U.S. Customs and Border Protection law enforcement personnel are fully capable of securing our border.”
