McAllen, TX – IMAS President and Executive Director, Serena Pandos, announced today that she will be resigning from the International Museum of Art & Science (IMAS) effective January 10, 2019. Pandos has accepted the position of President and Executive Director of the Louisiana Art & Science Museum (LASM) in Baton Rouge, Louisiana beginning late January 2019.

Pandos told Texas Border Business, “It was a difficult decision for me. My husband and I have developed many wonderful life-long relationships here in Texas. The community has been very good to us. Fortunately, thanks to the IMAS Board of Trustees, Guild, patrons and terrific staff, the IMAS is well positioned for continued excellence. During my time leading the IMAS, cumulatively over 8 years now, between 2003-2010 and most recently over the past 18 months, we have had many successes and challenges. The successes helped build momentum for continued expansion of services, and the challenges, although very difficult at times, helped us cultivate a strong work and very talented workforce. I have full faith and confidence that the staff will continue to demonstrate a high level of care and vigilance in the day to day operations during this upcomingtransition, and that the museum will continue to grow and evolve in a positive direction given the continued support of our community and sound leadership.”

The position of President & Director of the IMAS will be announced on the American Alliance of Museums website, the Texas Association of Museums website and other similar sites to help attract the most qualified candidates. Eryn Reddell Wingert, Chair of the IMAS Board said, “We are grateful for Serena’s hard work, and she’ll be sorely missed. While finding a replacement presents a daunting challenge for the IMAS board, it also presents a great opportunity: to build on the success Serena and her staff have achieved.”
