In the continuing effort to keep residents well informed and involved in their  community’s growth and development, District 2 Commissioner Joaquin “J.J.” Zamora will host a town hall meeting on Tuesday, April 24 at Lark Community Center, 2601 Lark Avenue, starting at 6:00 p.m. The meeting will serve as an opportunity for residents to learn more about what is happening in the community and discuss their concerns, as well as give their ideas and input.

Members of the McAllen City Manager’s Office will be in attendance and will provide updates on current and future projects in District 2 and citywide initiatives. City of McAllen staff will present information on the proposed projects included in the upcoming bond election. Attendees were given an opportunity to ask questions, review material, study the potential tax impact and become more familiar with the projects.

Topics specific to District 2 include sidewalks and bus shelter projects; the updated B-cycle program; hike & bike trail projects; the new youth baseball complex; Project Clean Neighborhoods; and traffic issues, including speed humps and the Bicentennial Extension.

Constituents should arrive early to receive a complimentary First Aid kit, courtesy of the McAllen Firefighters Association.  A limited number are available, one kit per family.

“I invite everyone in District 2 to come out and learn more about what the City of McAllen is doing to provide an unparalleled quality of life, as well as ongoing efforts to address issues in the district and to hear of any new concerns,” said Comm. Zamora.
