PSJA North Athlete, to cheer for Texas State University

PHARR – PSJA North Early College High School Senior Yesenia Garcia signed a letter of intent to cheer for Texas State University today, Tuesday, May 14 surrounded by her family, sponsors and friends during a special ceremony held at her school.

She has been cheering since she was 10 years old and was part of the PSJA North Varsity Cheerleading Squad all four years of high school. She is a 2x All-American Cheerleader and a Track & Field athlete. 

While at Texas State she plans to major in Mathematics.

“I’ve always been inspired by cheerleaders. It’s about being a spirit leader and a role model,” Garcia said of her experience. “I really wanted to represent my school and myself as a good spirit leader.”
