ALAMO – PSJA Memorial Early College High School Cross-Country athlete Cruz Gomez officially signed with the University of Texas at Austin during a special ceremony at the school Monday, Dec. 10.
Cruz is a three-time State UIL Track meet participant, winning double silver in 2018 in the 3200 and 1600 meter run. He is a four-time UIL State Cross-Country participant, placing 5th in the state in 2017 and 4th in 2018. He was named the Rio Grande Valley Cross-Country Athlete of the Year for 2018 and has been the only athlete from South Texas to win the prestigious McNeil Invitational and Footlocker South Regional. He received an at-large bid to compete in the Nike Cross-Country National Championships in Oregon, where he placed 13th, being one of five across the United States to be awarded this invite.
Congratulations to Cruz for all of his accomplishments and putting PSJA ISD on the map throughout his tenure at PSJA Memorial. The best of luck to you as you start your college career!
