PHARR – Daija Esparza, a PSJA North Early College High School Senior, is one of only two students in the Rio Grande Valley awarded the 2020 Forty Acres Scholarship.

The Forty Acres Scholars Program inspires and nurtures visionary leaders and helps them use their talents to benefit society. Scholars demonstrate intellectual curiosity and a track record of outstanding academic success. Most importantly, they have the passion and a desire to live out the core values of The University of Texas at Austin.

While attending PSJA North ECHS, Esparza served as the Senior Class Vice President, National Honor Society President, and Rio Grande Valley Lead Ambassador. She was a National AP Scholar, has earned her FFA Chapter Degree, and was a four-year Dean’s List Member.
