PHARR – Paloma Alvarado, a Pharr-San Juan-Alamo ISD Early College Program graduate recently earned her Bachelor’s Degree of Applied Technology in Management from South Texas College at the age of 18. Alvarado completed this degree just one year after graduating as a junior candidate from PSJA Memorial Early College High School with an Associate Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies.
“Earning my bachelor’s is certainly a great accomplishment at my age,” said the PSJA Early College graduate. “It’s a great feeling that even though I am the youngest of my friends they tell me how I inspired them to pursue higher education.”
According to Alvarado, she credits her success to the support she received while at PSJA ISD. During her time in the district, she was an active member of the Wolverine UIL Math Club, Colorguard, and Student Council.
“PSJA’s Early college program put me on the track for better employment and career opportunities,” said the 18-year-old who currently works as an Accounting Assistant. “If I didn’t have those resources, I would not be where I am right now.”
Inspired by the jumpstart she has received, the proud PSJA alumna plans to continue her education by pursuing a Master’s Degree in Engineering Management from the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley this upcoming year.
